Friday Cuteness

It's been too long since I've done a Friday Cuteness post. This one is from my husband and it's...well, just watch. So much joy. So. Much.

Mini Sheep FTW

You guys!! Guess what?????

I have discovered a beautiful farm in Maine that raises and sells mini sheep!!!!
Yes. That is a mini sheep with a chicken on its head. Can you even stand the cuteness??

If you are unfamiliar with my obsession with mini sheep, please refer to this post.

True Story: A couple days ago I was telling a friend about how it's been my dream to own mini sheep someday and he started making jokes about mini lamb chops. He's a super super nice person and was clearly just joking, but I could barely muster up even a smile.

You DO NOT eat mini sheep. You love them. You care for them. You watch them wander around, nibbling grass.

And maybe, if you are very very lucky and have earned their trust, you can give their fluffy little backsides a gentle pat.

Oh come on, sassy sheep! Please??

These are the moments when I think, "We were meant to live in Maine."

Friday Cuteness

Not feeling it this Friday?

Watch this video of a little boy giving an inspired speech after learning to ride a bike for the first time (alas I couldn't embed but it's only a youtube link and well worth the click).

If you do, you'll be ready to conquer that revision, or that meeting with your manager, or that pile of laundry, or...the world.

THUMBS UP, EVERYBODY!

Watch it now

Speaking of riding bikes, I just want to say *good luck* to my amazing Dad, who is riding his fifth century ride (yes, 100 miles!!) for Team in Training this Sunday in Lake Tahoe. Over those five years of fundraising and riding, he has raised approximately $27,000 towards wiping out blood cancers for good!! You can read more about his ride and Team in Training at his TNT page here.

Sometimes riding a bike is an epic adventure.

Friday Cuteness

I dedicate this Friday Cuteness video to all my fellow writers. It may be difficult, but we just have to put one foot/ word/ hoof in front of the other. Keep telling stories. Don't give up.

As usual, sound is not necessary to experience the cuteness of this newborn fawn taking its first steps. However, the background hum of insects is nice. It reminds me what summer is like, and that it's not as far away as the weather would have you believe.

Friday Cuteness

It's Friday, it's April Fool's Day, and it's snowing. Again.

Friday, I stick my tongue out at you!
And for those of you who need even more cuteness to power you through the morning, here's an adorable video of a baby red panda (aka firefox) getting all tangled up in some branches while attempting to get a snack. (As usual, no sound necessary.)

If red pandas make you as happy as they make me, please consider supporting this endangered species through the Red Panda Network!

Happy Friday, Reader!

Friday Cuteness

It's been a while since I posted a Friday Cuteness entry but I was inspired today! Husband "gave" me a red panda for my birthday!!! Technically he donated money to The Red Panda Network, which means I've adopted a sweet red panda named Pinju for the year. They're even going to send me quarterly updates and (hopefully) photos!! Bask in the cuteness:

Red pandas live in the foothills of the Himalayas on a diet of bamboo and bugs and they are the cutest animals on the planet--even beating out unicorns for the title three years in a row.

Learn more about adopting on their website. They also have a live pandacam so...yeah. Ch-ch-ch-check it out and happy Friday!

Friday Cuteness

Facts:

1. The weather is perfect today: blustery and, as the woman in Scotland said of the torrential rain that greeted my husband and I on our honeymoon, "wild".

2. I am grumpy.

3. Later I will get coffee, which will make me less grumpy.

4. This is a hilarious tumblr post by Nitsuh Abebe. It explains why it's not a good idea to date a writer. I'm so glad my husband didn't read this before I could trick him into marrying me. Also, writing "tumblr" really pains me. Why no "e"?? Why?

5. For the cuteness portion of this post, I offer you the amazing new Penguin Classics covers featured on one of my twin's favorite blogs, Design Sponge. Check it out here.

Also, because I can't just abandon you without some visual stimuli, this:

Please note, red pandas--like the one in this video--are very much endangered. You can learn more from National Geographic and WWF.

Friday Freya

Hello Reader. My new blogging assistant and canine companion is so cute I think she may have usurped Friday Cuteness permanently!

Allow me to introduce you. This is Freya.

Freya! Come here, Freya! Look over here. Come on, Freya. Freeeeya!Freya is a blue-eyed two-year-old wolf, I mean Husky. She has no training--none whatsoever. To make up for this, she aims to be as cute and sweet as possible. She's also very liberal with kisses--though she goes straight for the mouth. Why the mouth, Freya!? We met less than a week ago; can't we start with the hand or cheek? I'm old fashioned like that. Plus, you know, you sort of lick your butt.

Alas, these complex formalities exhaust her and she must take her rest. Immediately and in the middle of the kitchen.
Freya's main joys in life are belly rubs and walking/running/moving beyond the speed of light. Despite the many toys we have showered on her, she shows no interest in any of them. She just wants to go--preferably straight ahead and as fast as possible.

There is only one creature that comforts Freya during those introspective moments when she stops moving in order to contemplate the Canine Condition and the True Meaning of Life. And that brave soul is the noble and long-suffering Mr. Chips.
Poor Mr. Chips squeaks when he is frightened. And when Mr. Chips squeaks, Freya goes as crazy as I might if, say, you appeared beside me right now waving a bag of Cadbury Mini Eggs. But after being tossed and chewed repeatedly, Mr. Chips succumbs to the pain and faints, his unanswered squeaks for help falling silent.

Then they cuddle. Please send help. For his sake.

Friday Cuteness

The Rejectionist posted the most adorable video today on her blog (a blog which, by the way, is fantastic and hilarious, particularly if you are a writer). The video is so cute that I don't think any other cuteness post will do and so I'm stealing hers.

Watch this video. Sound is not necessary but it does amplify the cuteness factor. I promise it will make you feel happy even if you're having a slept late, socks don't match, zit on my face, forgot my lunch money kind of Friday.

Friday Cuteness

Did you know there was such a thing as mini sheep??
Okay, anyone who knows me personally knows about mini sheep but for the rest of you, read more here. Suffice it to say the breed standard height for Babydoll Southdown sheep is 18-24" tall.
I dream of owning a mini flock of mini sheep someday.
Granted, I also dream about people breaking into choreographed dance numbers in real life (I always thought the library was just begging for a big dance number), among other wild fantasies like discovering that unicorns are real and living in a treehouse.
I'm still holding out hope...for the sheep AND the choreographed dancing.

Friday Cuteness

Okay, more like Friday Hotness. I just HAD to share Hugh Jackman's Lipton Iced Tea commercial. It's reminiscent of Fatboy Slim's Weapon of Choice music video, which featured Christopher Walken dancing in a hotel.

In my high school yearbook I listed my life ambition as, "to live a musical." THIS is what I was talking about:

Lambs!

It's been a while since I did a Friday Cuteness post. Sunshine and a lamb. It's a little puff of spring on this Friday morning. Enjoy!

Editor's Note:
Curt just one-upped me with another lamb video--and he claims he didn't read my blog first. So I guess he's just reading my mind.

Happy Friday!

I stole this link from Moonrat at Editorial Ass. Watching this clip just made me want to cry. It's just so joyful...I don't know. It's raining, it's that special week of the month when I get migraines, and I'm struggling with my revisions. I am emotional is what I'm saying.

But really, watch this. It's fantastic.
